Oxford Diecast Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue Service Mercedes Support -1:76 scaleThe history of fire fighting in Bedfordshire can be traced back to the 17th century, when parishes had their own fire pumps and crews. The history of fire fighting in Bedfordshire can be traced back to the 17th century, when parishes had their own fire pumps and crews. In 1773, the parish of Pertenhall made an agreement to use the fire engine at Kimbolton, while Hockliffe paid towards the upkeep of the engine at Toddington in 1832.

In 1838, the first volunteer fire brigade was formed in Bedford. This was followed by the formation of brigades in other towns and villages across the county. In 1878, the Bedford Borough Council took over the running of the town's fire brigade.

In 1941, due to the demands of World War II, the National Fire Service (NFS) was formed. This brought all of the country's fire brigades under one central control. The NFS was disbanded in 1947, and the Bedfordshire Fire Brigade was recreated.

In 1964, Luton became a county borough and formed its own independent fire brigade. This lasted until 1974, when the Luton brigade was reabsorbed into Bedfordshire, which was renamed Bedfordshire Fire Service. The service was later renamed Bedfordshire & Luton Fire and Rescue Service in 1997, on the same day that Luton became a unitary authority. This reflected that Luton was no longer in the administrative county of Bedfordshire, though Luton remained in the ceremonial county.

Today, Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service is a responsible authority under the Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004. It is governed by the Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Authority, which comprises twelve elected councillors, known as Members, appointed from each of the three unitary authorities.

The service has a fleet of over 100 fire engines and other specialist vehicles. It employs over 500 people, including firefighters, fire safety officers, and support staff.

Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service provides a wide range of services, including:

  • Firefighting and rescue
  • Fire prevention and safety
  • Community safety education
  • Road traffic collision rescue
  • Water rescue
  • Hazardous materials response

The Oxford Diecast Merceds model is shown here in the Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue Service Support livery. It comes on a plinth, with a clear case lid and Oxford Diecast wrap.

Super Handy and So Stylish — A Must-Have for Any Kitchen! I’m really impressed with the Sinnsally Kitchen Sponge Holder! It’s simple, practical, and makes keeping my sink area neat so much easier. The 2-tier design is brilliant — the top shelf holds my sponges perfectly, while the bottom area keeps scrubbers and brushes organized and easily accessible. The stainless steel looks sleek and modern, and it has held up beautifully with daily use. Water drains well so everything dries quickly, and cleanup is a breeze. No more soggy sponges sitting around! Installation was quick and easy — it fits nicely right by the sink without taking up too much space. This little holder has made a big difference in keeping my kitchen tidy. Highly recommend for anyone who wants a clean, organized sink area with a touch of style!

Great space saver
Color: 2 Tier-Black
I love how this makes my sink so much more organized. For me, it holds a 20oz dish soap, a dish spray, 2 S.O.S. pads, 2 sponges, a steel wool scrubber, a bottle brush, a Stanley cap cleaner, and a sink stopper. I could still fit more if I wanted to. I can move the tall brush holder to whichever side I want, as well as the divider. It was super easy to put together, and functions well by draining all the drips right into my sink, instead of behind it. The black looks great and matches my kitchen well. This organized is built well and keeps mynsink area tidy and hygienic.

It Looks Nice and It Works
Color: 1 Tier-Black
I like it. It is too long for my sink area, but it still works. Next to my sink is a dish rack. One half of the caddy fits perfectly behind it, holding a 16oz bottle of dish soap and a 16oz bottle of multi-surface cleaner. The part of the caddy that fits on my sink ledge holds a sponge, scrubber and scouring pad, The caddy works great at keeping the ledge dry. It is a very nice, well-designed item. I recommend this caddy it's keeps everything organized and dry.

Good for organization, looks neat!
Color: 2 Tier-Black
I've had this for almost a year now and expect to have it for a few more; seems very durable. The drain board thingy requires consistent cleaning every few days, but its done in less than two minutes. I usually wash the entire thing every two weeks to keep it shiny as well. I am seeing a little bit of rust, but it's not too much and it's not noticeable if you don't look for it. It's great for organization and was easy to assemble. A very sturdy and well-sized product.
