American Work: Four Centuries of Black and White LaborThis is history at its best the epic, often tragic story of success and failure on the uneven playing fields of American labor, rooted in painstaking research and passionately alive to its present day implications for a just society. This is history at its best--the epic, often tragic story of success and failure on the uneven playing fields of American labor, rooted in painstaking research and passionately alive to its present-day implications for a just society. Jacqueline Jones shows unmistakably how nearly every significant social transformation in American history (from bound to free labor, from farm work to factory work, from a blue-collar to a white-collar economy) rolled back the hard-won advances of those African Americans who had managed to gain footholds in various jobs and industries. This is a story not of simple ideological "racism" but of politics and economics interacting to determine what kind of work was "suitable" for which groups. Here is a "useful and sobering" (Kirkus Reviews) account of why the connection between success and the work ethic was severed long ago for a substantial number of Americans. American Work goes far beyond the easy sloganeering of the current debates on affirmative action and welfare versus workfare to inform those debates with rich historical context and compelling insight.

Where’s the owners manual?
I really like this. The only drawback is that there is no owners manual!

Clean teeth, smart features, and convenient to use!
I’ve gone through a few electric toothbrushes over the years, and this one stands out mostly because of how practical it is day to day. The cleaning power is solid, my teeth feel noticeably smoother after each use, especially along the gumline. The different modes are useful, I mostly stick to the standard clean mode, but the sensitive option is great when my gums feel a little irritated. The built in UV sanitizing and drying feature is something I didn’t think I needed, but now I appreciate it. It’s nice knowing the brush head isn’t just sitting there wet between uses. The included rinse cup and storage setup make everything feel more organized on the counter, which is a small but real upgrade. Battery life has been reliable so far, and the wireless charging base keeps things simple. It also comes with multiple brush heads, which adds value, especially if you plan to stick with it long term.

Cleans your teeth!
This is my first experience with an electric toothbrush. I was a little confused with how to charge this but you need to take out the cup and plug it into that spot. So it’s nice that it comes with a cup but it does go in the charging spot. The UV disinfectant and dryer is very cool indeed. I can’t tell what the difference is in all the different settings. The toothbrush does a really good job of cleaning and you can feel your teeth clean even for a while after you brush. You should put it in your mouth first before you turn it on or else you’ll spray toothpaste all over the place. Overall this was a good foray into electronic toothbrushing for me. I don’t think it’s the top quality as some of the name brands but it works and gets the job done. I love that it comes with replacement heads.
